History

Before it was National General Insurance, it was two separate companies called Integon and Motors Insurance Company. The former was founded in 1920 while the latter was founded by General Motors Acceptance Corp (GMAC) in 1925. In June of 1997, GMAC acquired Integon, but the name didn’t change to National General Insurance until 2013.

Today, its headquarters can be found in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Claims Process

To file a claim with National General, click here.

When filing a claim, National General requires your policy number (which you can find on your insurance card) and details of the accident you’re reporting. Once you report the accident and file a claim, a claims professional will reach out and help you throughout the rest of the claims process. The claims professional will immediately begin processing your claim and further assessing the damages. An adjuster may also be assigned to your claim in order to gather all the details and provide an estimate for damages.

If you can still drive your vehicle after the incident, you can bring it to a National General Drive-In Facility. If not, you can schedule a Drive-In appraisal with National General.
