Before it was National General Insurance, it was two separate companies. One was called Integon. And the other Motors Insurance Company. The former was founded in 1920. The latter was founded by General Motors Acceptance Corp (GMAC) in 1925. In June of 1997, GMAC acquired Integon. But the name didn’t change to National General Insurance until 2013.
Today, its headquarters is in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
