History

AAA, often referenced as “Triple A” was founded in 1902 in Chicago, Illinois. A band of local motor clubs whose members totalled up to 1,500 formed the company in response to the lack of roads and highways for automobiles. In 1904, AAA merged with the American Motor League, which was the very first automobile organization. Throughout the 20th century, Triple A started a School Safety Patrol Program, worked to reduce pedestrian injuries by publishing a pedestrian safety guide, produced beautifully detailed road maps that were acknowledged for their scenic highways, and much more.

In the late 1990s, AAA unveiled “Teaching Teens to Drive,” a driver’s education program geared toward parents wanting to be involved in teen driving education. Today, AAA continues to provide great roadside assistance for its customers. It also sells roadside assistance for a variety of vehicles, including motorcycles and, in some areas, bicycles.
